The First Nations Education Council (FNEC) launched in May 2007, a First Nations education awareness campaign. The goal of this campaign was to raise awareness among the general public to the underfunding of schools in First Nations communities and to incite the government to immediately review the funding formula, which has not been changed since it was developed. Furthermore, increases in the funding formula have been capped at 2% since 1996.

To support its campaign, the FNEC has created a Website,
where several documents, studies, facts and events can be found that confirm the underfunding of First Nations education in Canada and its related impact.
